Hey, I’m Steve-and Yes, I’m Probably in the Kitchen

Alright, flavor fanatics, welcome to my blog, “Steve’s in the Kitchen“!

I didn’t set out to become a gluten-free recipe developer. Honestly, as the primary cook in our family, I just wanted to make a pie crust my wife could eat without setting off alarm bells (aka: Celiac). However, as you might guess, one thing led to another, and suddenly I’m elbows-deep in tapioca flour, testing every gluten-free combo under the sun.

Why Gluten-Free?

When Lisa was first diagnosed with Celiac disease, our kitchen turned into a science lab. Her doctor handed us a list of foods to avoid. Wheat! Dairy! Eggs! Soy! At that point, I was determined not to cook two separate dinners every night.

Cue the experiments, the research, and the occasional kitchen fail (my first gluten-free loaf could’ve doubled as a doorstop). Fast forward nearly seven years, and I’ve discovered that gluten-free food doesn’t have to taste like regret (or cardboard). In fact, I actually love the challenge, and there’s nothing better than seeing my wife and son enjoy the same meal-no “special” plates required.

From Hi-Tech Guy to Test Kitchen

I was a hi-tech guy – Amazon badges, endless meetings, endless docs…the works. However, in 2022, I hit pause on that life to focus on what really matters: family, creativity, and reclaiming time as the most important ingredient. I stepped away from chasing titles and started chasing presence. I traded in my “busy badge” for a spatula and reclaimed time as the most sacred ingredient in my life. Now, I’m not my job title. I’m the rhythm of kneading dough, the laughter echoing after a shared meal, the stillness that followed when I finally stopped running.

What You’ll Find Here

Steve’s in the Kitchen is where I share frustration-free, gluten-free recipes that don’t skimp on flavor, texture, or fun. I’m not a trained chef – just a guy who cares a lot, tests a lot, and isn’t afraid to break a few culinary “rules” along the way. (Culinary tradition? Consider it politely ignored. 😈)

So, when you’re looking for gluten-free recipes that are approachable, delicious, and made with a side of slightly dry humor, you’re in the right place.

Come hungry. Stay curious. Sometimes the best recipes (and lives) are the ones you never planned.

Here’s to good cooking and good eating!
